3. Presence and confidence

Build your presence and confidence

Presence and confidence are qualities that are at the core of effective leadership. To some extent these qualities are anchored in our DNA, but the science of Neuro-Plasticity tells us that we can develop them significantly beyond our base level.

Presence means commanding the attention of your audience, communicating with confidence and charisma, and influencing people to follow your lead.

Self-confidence and courage are multi-dimensional qualities. First are the courage to make difficult decisions, and the confidence in your ability to accomplish challenging tasks and goals. Then there is the courage, confidence, and assertiveness to interact with others, to have difficult conversations, and to “hold your own”.

Deliberately challenging yourself to make difficult decisions and hold difficult conversations will help you build your self-confidence, courage, and presence.
