13 May 2015 Gratitude – A Happiness Booster
Can a simple show of gratitude have a measurable long term effect on your happiness?
Well, Professor Martin Seligman, a pioneer in the field of Positive Psychology says: “Absolutely”.
The Science:
In a 2005 study involving 577 participants, Seligman and his team found that a simple intervention of delivering a “Gratitude Letter” to a deserving individual for 5 days in a row increased their happiness index for at least one month after the exercise.
Our Recommendation:
Adopt a new habit of expressing your gratitude to deserving individuals on a regular basis.
You can do this by expressing your gratitude verbally, delivering a thank you card, or a small gift. Additionally, you can express your gratitude in your prayers and meditation.
Our Habit Loop intervention will help you habitualizing this new behavior and making it a part of your daily routine.
