To better understand what is happening to us during coaching, consider this.
Very often our mental thought processes and our emotional processes are highly interactive, intensely feeding on each other.
In his book Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman explains the process he calls “Emotional Hijack”. Yet at
other times, such as when we solve a Sudoku puzzle, our thoughts are rather neutral of emotional content. And on many other
occasions, our brain just “chatters” away, processing endless unproductive thoughts.
When working with
a coach over a period of time, our thought processes begin to change. Our self-awareness increases, our ability to focus on
our stated goal improves, our positive motivation increases, and our inner resources reservoir builds up.
